INTERIOR STYLE

contemporary

Tatlin Apartments — is a Residential development in Basmanny district of Moscow. Building of call-office in constructionism style of early XX century was re-thought and renovated for housing complex.

Now this building became incoming group of HC and over it there is an entire complex with a huge panoramic windows. It is divided into two blocks between which there is a space out of glass which creates the impression that house is levitating.

Architecture is a work of Architects of Invention — an international architect bureau which works in the field of contemporary architecture, urbanism and cultural analysis.

НOur studio developed interior design projects for this Residential complex, which in the future will be implemented with finishing.

In this Residential complex there is full town with its own internal infrastructure: restaurants, cafes, huge sports area, outdoor cinema, park, co-working, place for rest and quite zones, where you can read. Notably it is town inside the building, interiors of which was implemented by our studio.

Main complex’s objectives

We had a task to unite with the help of design architecture and interior styles and also unite concepts of all apartments and to repeat finishing materials and colors of the apartments in common facilities. Also it was required to plan functionality of the space, think trough in which way definite zones will be used by dwellers, create ergonomic and convenient in navigation space.

Incoming group

Entering the apartment’s hall clients enter comprehensive huge space where they can wait for guests, read the book. On the reception the guests are met by administrator. When entering the hall a guest should feel the scale and size of the complex.

If you will take a look at the space at the hall, the interior is perceived as an element of constructivism due to straight and clean lines, huge size, dark emphasized wall, furniture in front of the reception and hanging lamps. .

Floor cover we chose of dark grey ceramic granite imitating concrete. It is large-size tile, which emphasizes monumentality of the interior. For walls finishing we used gypsum boards which is sliced in different elements and placed with defined rhythm over the wall hence creating 3d-panels effect. Herewith the solution is cheap.

In the rest zone with the sofa we placed racks and shelves for books, which can be read in the waiting zone. Mail boxes we designed in such way that they are fitting into ledges wall. To add greenery and nature we used stabilized moss between ledges. It resulted in union with nature, all while the complex’s concept is emphasized.

The reception zone we designed by order. Shelves zone we planned in such way that it will be comfortable and convenient for administrator to work, everything is placed at hand. Beyond the reception there is kitchen zone and cloakroom for the staff.

We added paintings of constructivism style into interior of common facilities to emphasize the concept and add sense of this style era.

Atrium zone

Atrium is a mini town inside the complex with it’s own infrastructure: cafe, shop, children clubs, waiting room, zone for rest. The main objective was to create everything in such way that the person didn’t want to live this place and enjoyed exterior and interior.

Zest of the space is spiral stairs which leads to the second floor.

Elements of the style are coinciding, golden elements are added on the hanging lamps what makes interior more trendy. Stabilized moss between ledgers is placed in thicker line. For equilibrium with spiral stairs we added one more round item represented by bench placed around planted lemon tree.

Circle forms are repeated in the interior in many places what dilutes straightness and severity of constructivism.

On the first and second floor one wall is emphasized by the same material represented by painted gypsum plasterboard. Here we added different tones to add dynamics to the interior. United walls of the first and second floor are uniting atrium into integrated space.

For furniture, bench and walls we tried to use the same style and materials as in apartments.

ВEntrance into elevator zone over the café is zoned by ledgers which we used in all common facilities. Ledgers are performing here function of fence. Walnut color emphasizes complex’s status and creates perception of expensive premium interior.

On the ceiling on the second floor we used plastered surface-mounted luminaire, one more circle form that dilutes interior severity.

Spaces between buildings

In the halls and corridors we used simple and cheap technique that enlivens interior and makes it more interesting. It is the same gypsum panels, but painted by now. We used large-size panels and did 1 cm gap between them. It results in a white wall but with specific rhythm and divisions.

In the apartments’ entry zone from the atrium we created gallery effect by hanging paintings of constructivism style.

In the corridors between the apartments we used the same tile imitating concrete on the floor, walls are covered with gypsum panels.

Here we used Open-Grid Ceilings as there is a huge amount of communication lines, ventilation, water supply which require access for their exploitation. Thus we painted communication lines in dark grey color and placed Open-Grid Ceilings, which don’t come to an end and have side highlighting, what creates levitation effect.

The doors are emphasized with fireproof lamination imitating oak color, side wall stands out because of black color and moves it visually closer what changes extended corridor into a regular shape.

Built-in lamps between gypsum plasterboards and entrance to the apartment divide material imitating wood and gypsum plasterboard. While the illumination itself creates soft light and performs navigation function for dwellers.

We reached visually premium level of finishing while using rough-edged material for finishing and creating of visual division by panels.
